The SmartSpeed Dash system works by identifying and setting up a command unit that you can connect to your mobile device via Bluetooth.
This command unit then uses an in-built radio device (IEEE 802.15.4) to communicate with any additional timing units in your setup.
Before you begin
There are two different SmartSpeed Dash models - Legacy and BLE. You must identify which SmartSpeed Dash model you have, as they both connect via different Bluetooth methods.

SmartSpeed Dash units will continuously beep if they are not aligned with a reflector. We recommend standing opposite a reflector with the timing unit upside down in your hands to minimise beeping during the setup process.
Set up your SmartSpeed Dash Legacy command unit
- Press the Power button on your timing unit.
- The command unit must always have an ID of 0. To set this, hold down the ID button for three seconds until the display turns on and the device beeps three times. Continually press until the ID display now shows 0.
While the ID of the command unit must be 0, the Channel can be set to any option. If you have additional timing gates, they all must be on the same Channel to communicate with each other.
- Next, hold down the Bluetooth button for three seconds until it flashes green and you hear it beep. This will enable Bluetooth and allow you to search for the timing unit on your device using the steps below.
