Update SmartHub firmware

To use SmartSpeed Pro gates in the SmartSpeed Plus iOS app, you will firstly need to update the firmware of your SmartHub.

Currently SmartSpeed Plus does not support all drill types from the SmartSpeed app, which may mean this update is not yet for you. See our Systems Overview for a list of drill types supported by SmartSpeed Plus.

Windows (.bin) Mac (.img)

1. Once you have downloaded the firmware file you are ready to update.
2. Place your SmartHub into Bootloader Mode by holding down Flash and Enter and tapping the power button.
   The SmartHub must be powered off before attempting to enter Bootloader Mode.

3. Follow the below steps for your relevant computer operating system - Windows or Mac.

Windows

1. With your SmartHub in Bootloader Mode, connect the SmartHub via USB to your Windows device.

2. The SmartHub will appear in your File Explorer as a USB storage device with a single file: 'firmware.bin'.
3. Delete the existing 'firmware.bin' file from the SmartHub.
4. Copy the new .bin file onto the SmartHub.

5. With the SmartHub still connected, complete a hard reset by holding the power button on the SmartHub for 10 seconds - or until the power LED turns solid green.
6. Let the SmartHub power up completely, then power it off by holding down the power button.
7. Disconnect the USB cable.

You can now connect your SmartHub and SmartSpeed Pro gates in the SmartSpeed Plus app.

Mac

1. Download and install the balenaEtcher application for Mac.

2. With your SmartHub in Bootloader Mode, connect the SmartHub via USB to your Mac device.

3. Open Balena Etcher and click 'Flash from file'. Select the firmware file that you downloaded.

4. Click 'Select target' and choose 'LPCUSB Mass storage Media'.

5. Click 'Flash!', entering in your password if prompted. Wait for 'Flash Completed!' to appear.

6. With the SmartHub still connected, complete a hard reset by holding the power button on the SmartHub for 10 seconds - or until the power LED turns solid green.
7. Let the SmartHub power up completely, then power it off by holding down the power button.
8. Disconnect the USB cable.

You can now connect your SmartHub and SmartSpeed Pro gates in the SmartSpeed Plus app.
