Identify your SmartSpeed Dash timing unit

If you have just received your SmartSpeed Dash system, are trying to troubleshoot an issue with the VALD support team, or updating firmware, it's important to identify the specific SmartSpeed Dash model you have - BLE or LEGACY - as they both behave differently.

SmartSpeed Dash BLE

This is the latest model of SmartSpeed Dash and includes updated BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) communication.

The SmartSpeed Dash BLE can be identified by the blue circle on the base of the unit (pictured above).

BLE Dash units can also be identified by their serial number, listed below the barcode on the model sticker.

BLE units will have a serial number of SSD600800 or higher.

SmartSpeed Dash LEGACY

This is the original model of the SmartSpeed Dash timing units and includes legacy Bluetooth communication.

These units are no longer functional with the SmartSpeed Plus app. Please reach out to support@vald.com for assistance if you have legacy units.

The SmartSpeed Dash Legacy can be identified by the serial number listed below the barcode on the model sticker (not pictured above).

Legacy units will have a serial number lower than SSD600800, or starting with PTxxxxxx.
