VALD Connect allows you to securely access your organization's VALD data in external business intelligence (BI) tools for reporting, analysis and internal workflows.
This enables you to build your own dashboards, perform deeper analysis and integrate VALD data into your existing reporting processes.
This feature is currently in Beta. Access is granted by our team by sending an email to valdconnect@vald.com.

About VALD Connect
What you can do
Once the setup process is complete, you can access your VALD data directly from Power BI without having to go through VALD Hub or external APIs.
This allows you to build custom reports and dashboards, and keep your data up to date within your internal reporting environment.
When to use it
VALD Connect differs from other VALD data access methods (such as valdr or External APIs) by integrating directly with BI tools, reducing the need for manual data exports and custom integration work.
Use it when you need fast, secure access to unified data for reporting or analysis without the overhead of managing your own data infrastructure.
Beta limitations
While in Beta, Power BI is the only supported BI tool. We expect to be able to introduce support for additional tools and platforms in future releases.
Data is refreshed daily, meaning data will typically be available up to the previous day. Not all VALD datasets will be accessible with VALD Connect during the Beta phase.
Getting started
To start your journey with VALD Connect, send an email to our team at valdconnect@vald.com to be granted access.
Once your organization has been set up, you will receive the details needed to access your data depending on your chosen method of connection.
Quick start (recommended)
- You will receive a Power BI template file (.pbit) and a data sharing URL to complete a simple setup.
Advanced setup
- You will receive a data sharing URL and documentation to successfully complete a manual setup.
For most users, the quick start is recommended as it simplifies setup and ensures your data is correctly configured to start analysis straight away.
Full setup instructions for both methods can be found in the VALD Connect setup guide.
Using your data
When you use VALD Connect, your data is loaded into the selected tool as part of the connection process. Load times vary depending on dataset size and your computer's performance, with larger datasets taking longer.
If required, adjust row limits in Power BI to ensure all data is retrieved, as the default settings may restrict your results.
Once loaded, you will arrive on a blank report canvas with all available VALD data fields displayed in the side panel. From here you can begin building your reports, visualizations and dashboards.
Data refreshes daily, typically early in the morning. New data captured the previous day is usually available the following morning. If updates are not visible, wait for the next refresh cycle before contacting support.
Access and security
VALD Connect runs through VALD's trusted authentication and permissions model, including our industry-standard secure data-sharing protocol. This ensures secure access to your data without the need for extra steps, API keys or credential files.
When connecting, you will use OIDC (OpenID Connect), built on OAuth 2.0, to authenticate via a secure login window in Power BI.
