ForceDecks users can produce DSI reports in VALD Hub.
Dynamic Strength Index (DSI) Overview
The Dynamic Strength Index (DSI) is the ratio between an individual’s isometric and ballistic peak force production.
Isometric Peak Force - is the maximal force produced during an isometric test, such as the Isometric Mid-Thigh Pull (IMTP); and
Ballistic Peak Force - is the maximal force produced during a ballistic test, such as a countermovement jump (CMJ) or Squat Jump (SJ).
Discrepancies between how much force an individual produces isometrically compared to dynamically at high-speed, can be used to identify the type of training an individual may require.
For example:
- Maximal strength training - when the ratio favours ballistic peak force production (e.g., >0.8)
- Ballistic strength training - when the ratio favours isometric peak force production (e.g.,<0.6)
- Both - when the ratio favours neither (e.g., 0.6 - 0.8)
It is common for practitioners to use a CMJ and an IMTP test to calculate an individual’s DSI.
Getting Started with ForceDecks DSI Reports
Step 1 – Tag Tests
To get the most relevant data for your DSI requirements we recommend tagging the ForceDecks tests you wish to include in your DSI reports.
Step 2 – Configure DSI Reports in VALD Hub
To enable ForceDecks DSI Reports to be viewed in VALD Hub the following configuration is required.
Step 3 – Viewing DSI Reports
Once a DSI Report is Configured in VALD Hub it can be viewed from the DSI Report page and added to an individual’s profile page.
