Starting position
- Move so that the tracking circle is in the center of the positioning circle.
- Stand side-on to the camera.
This test requires a short, stationary period before each repetition. Remain still to allow the HumanTrak system to calibrate, following on-screen prompts before commencing the test.
- Stand on the closest leg to the camera with the supporting leg straight, and the opposite leg lifted off the ground, slightly bent.
- The fingertips of a hand may be placed on the wall for light balance support, but do not lean or offload body weight. Keep the trunk and pelvis level at all times during the test.
Instructions
- Click Start Rep before beginning a sequence of heel raises.
- Push up through the ball of the foot and the big toe, lifting the heel as high as possible.
- Lower the heel back to the ground in a controlled manner.
- Repeat the movement maintaining a steady rhythm (optionally, use a metronome).
- Continue performing repetitions until volitional fatigue or failure of technique, including:
- Inability to reach a consistent maximum heel height,
- Loss of pacing or uncontrolled lowering,
- Visible knee bend or other compensatory movement,
- Excessive reliance on the wall/balance aid.
Repetitions
- Reps are automatically detected when the heel rises and returns to the ground under control.
- The repetition count for the tested limb is displayed in the right side panel during a test.
- Repeat this test on the alternate side if desired by having the individual change their orientation to camera.
- If a rep is not detected, repeat the movement ensuring the protocol has been followed. Reps may not be detected if the heel height threshold was not met, or calibration was inaccurate.
