Range of motion tests measure the peak of motion and asymmetry. The DynaMo range has two ROM testing modes - Auto-detect and Manual mode. This is defaulted to Auto-detect, however, can be adjusted at any time in the Settings of the DynaMo mobile app.
When performing ROM tests, it is important to follow the protocols closely to get accurate results and data.

Getting started
- Download the DynaMo mobile app to your iOS or Android device. Click here for steps on how to download.
- Once the DynaMo app has been downloaded onto your mobile device, use your VALD Hub login details to log in to the app. If you do not have your login credentials, please contact your administrator or email us at support@vald.com.
Auto-detect Mode
- On the home screen, tap the + Create button in the middle of the bottom navigation bar.
- Select the relevant Profile then choose the Body Region for your test.
- Select Range of Motion (ROM) test.
- With ROM highlighted, select the limb(s).
- Select Movement, then Position.
- Watch the Test Protocol video and read the written instructions to ensure the test is performed accurately.
- Move into position and prepare to test.
- Ensure the patient is still before tapping START TESTING.
- Follow the prompts on the DynaMo app screen - 'remain steady, perform the movement, pause then return to start'.
- At the end of the set, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to view the number of repetitions and results.
- If testing both sides, tap NEXT to move to the other side.
- When the test is complete, tap FINISH.
- A Test Summary screen immediately displays the test results.
Manual Mode
If you are not wanting the test to start measuring straight away, you can set ROM tests to manual mode. This is beneficial if you need to assist the patient with getting into the appropriate position before starting the test.
- Tap Settings in the bottom navigation bar, then select ROM settings.
- Disable the Auto Detect Range of Motion toggle at the top to switch to manual mode, then click Save Settings to be returned to the home screen.
- Tap the + Create button in the middle of the bottom navigation bar.
- Select the relevant Profile then choose the Body Region for your test.
- Select Range of Motion (ROM) test.
- Watch the test protocol video and read the written instructions.
- Move into position and prepare to test.
- Ensure the patient is still before tapping START TESTING.
- Follow the prompts on the DynaMo app screen.
- Tap STOP at the end of the movement.
- Repeat steps 9 - 10 to complete the set of reps.
- At the end of the set, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to view the number of repetitions and results.
- If testing both sides, tap NEXT to move to the other side.
- When the test is complete, tap FINISH.
- A Test Summary screen immediately displays the test results.
