SmartSpeed Firmware

This article only applies to SmartSpeed Dash and SmartSpeed Pro timing units. See our guide on Updating SmartSpeed Plus firmware if you have SmartSpeed Plus gates.

Please email support@vald.com with the details of;

SmartSpeed Pro or SmartSpeed Dash, and

Windows or Mac systems

to request the firmware update file for your device. Return to this page to follow the instructions when you have received your firmware update file. 

SmartSpeed firmware instructions

To install the latest firmware:

1. Download the required firmware onto your computer (from the email)
2. If your web browser displays a message e.g. "... may be dangerous", click the options arrow and then click Keep.

Once downloaded, follow the Windows 10 or Mac instructions below.

Windows 10

1. Run the download file
2. Click More Info
3. Click Run anyway
4. An Upgrade screen will display
5. Place your device into Bootloader mode and connect to your computer via USB
6. Click Upgrade
7. When successful, Upgrade Complete! will display

Mac

1. Double click the download file to extract the .app file
2. Hold Control and click .app file
3. Select Open in shortcut menu
4. Click Open

Note: If the above does not work, select Apple menu > System Preferences; Click Security & Privacy; Click General; Click Open Anyway and repeat the above steps.

1. An Upgrade screen will display
2. Place your device into Bootloader mode and connect to your computer via USB
3. Click Upgrade
4. When successful, Upgrade Complete! will display
