Create a custom drill for SmartSpeed Dash and SmartSpeed Pro

If you find that the default SmartSpeed drills do not entirely suit your needs, you can easily create a new drill that is completely customisable to your organisation.

Create a custom drill in VALD Hub

To run custom drills using your SmartSpeed Dash or SmartSpeed Pro timing gates, you must firstly create the drill in your VALD Hub account.

1. Log in to VALD Hub and navigate to Configuration > Drills.
2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Create Custom Drill.
   You must have appropriate permissions set in VALD Hub to create custom SmartSpeed drills.

3. Choose the particular Drill type for your custom drill.

4. Enter in the details for your custom drill, including Drill Name, Gate Layout and Start Settings.
   Different drill types such as 'Change of Direction', 'Jumps', etc. will have additional fields to complete.

Select a custom drill in SmartSpeed

Once you have created your custom drill in VALD Hub, you can select this as an option when configuring your session in the SmartSpeed app.

Log in to the SmartSpeed app and then click the sync button to sync any new drills from VALD Hub into SmartSpeed. After you have clicked sync you can setup and run your drill as normal, selecting your custom drill from the Drill list.

Note: To see the custom drill in the Drill list, you must have the exact number of gates connected that you selected in VALD Hub.
