SmartSpeed iOS and Android software allows you to conduct testing without an internet connection. This can be useful if you are in an area with poor coverage or the SmartSpeed online system is temporarily under maintenance.
Important Note: You cannot login to SmartSpeed without an internet connection. You must login first while connected to the internet before attempting to conduct tests offline.
Use the SmartSpeed app offline
Before going offline, you'll need to sign into the SmartSpeed app on your mobile device. It is also recommended to perform a sync before using SmartSpeed offline to ensure all profiles are updated.
To perform a sync, open the SmartSpeed app while connected to the internet, log in and click the refresh icon below your email address on the home page. Allow the sync to complete, then you will be ready to start using your SmartSpeed units offline.
When using SmartSpeed devices (either online or offline), you must maintain a consistent Bluetooth connection between your mobile device and the SmartHub or command unit (range up to 20m / 65ft) to ensure data is recorded accurately.
Any tests conducted while offline will not upload to the cloud automatically. This data is collected and stored in an offline database on your smart device until you can connect to a network.
Manually upload results to VALD Hub
After completing your SmartSpeed tests offline, you can sync your data to VALD Hub the next time you access a stable network connection.
To force a sync between the SmartSpeed app and VALD Hub, open the SmartSpeed app, log in and click the refresh icon then allow the sync to complete.
This will upload any currently queued test results that were collected offline and waiting to be uploaded, as well as any new profiles that were created during this time.
If you notice any test results that are not uploading from your SmartSpeed app, please contact support@vald.com for further investigation.
