Toe Flexion
Seated Compression
Patient position | Sitting off the edge of the bed with feet not touching the floor, arms relaxed and hands rested on their thighs, with hips and knees each at 90 degrees flexion, and ankle in plantigrade. |
Contact point | Plantar surface of the big toe. |
Device orientation | Vertical, with the tested end down, the palm pad supported by the practitioner and the flat pad in contact with the patient. |
Position of examiner | Split kneeling in front of the patient, supporting the patient's lower leg with one hand and the DynaMo Plus with the other, using the floor to block movement, resisting downward force. |
Instruction | Push against the pad as hard as you can. 3, 2, 1 - push, push, push and relax. |

Long Sitting - Plantar Flexed Compression
Patient position | Long sitting with their lower leg extending past the table, allowing the ankle to be unsupported, in a plantarflexed position. |
Contact point | Plantar surface of the big toe. |
Device orientation | Angled slightly upwards with the tester end down and palm pad supported by the practitioner and the curved end in contact with the patient. |
Position of examiner | Seated at the foot of the bed, medial to the leg being tested, supporting the patient just proximal to their ankle with one hand, and holding the DynaMo Plus with the other. |
Instruction | Push against the pad as hard as you can. 3, 2, 1 - push, push, push and relax. |
